Ireland acceded to the Optional Protocol to the UNCRPD in November 2024 as a result of years of tireless advocacy by disabled people, their organisations and allies.

To mark this momentous step, we created a short explainer on the Optional Protocol last year — and it proved to be quite popular!

At the time, we didn’t yet have a home for hosting and sharing it in multiple formats.
