Accessibility
The Disability Participation News Hub is committed to making our information, updates, and resources as accessible as possible to disabled people and the wider community.
We aim to align our content with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 Level AA, as far as possible within the constraints of the Substack publishing platform.
What we do
We take a content-first approach to accessibility. In practice, this means we:
Use clear headings and logical structure
Write in plain English wherever possible
Use meaningful link text (so links make sense out of context)
Provide alternative text for images and graphics
Use lists and spacing to improve readability
Avoid unnecessary visual or sensory barriers
Platform limitations
Our website is hosted on Substack, a third-party publishing platform. While Substack provides a strong accessibility baseline (including keyboard navigation, screen-reader compatibility, and responsive design), some technical elements are outside our direct control.
We continuously review our content practices to improve accessibility within these limits.
External links and tools
Some links on our website lead to external platforms (for example, public bodies, consultation portals, registration tools, or event platforms). Accessibility standards may vary across these external sites.
If you experience difficulty accessing linked content, please contact us and we will do our best to provide the information in an alternative format.
Need information in another format?
If you encounter any accessibility barriers, or if you need information in an alternative format (such as plain text, large print, or an accessible summary), you can contact us at:
Email: info@disabilityparticipation.ie
We welcome feedback and are committed to improving access to participation and information.
